1. Frame cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning the frame can be done by dipping a cloth in water and sprinkling it onto the components. This way, the mud stuck under the frame can easily become soft when it comes into contact with water. At this time, simply wipe with a cloth to easily remove the mud. It is not recommended to use high-pressure water guns or other tools to wash the sludge on the bicycle, as this cleaning method can easily allow water to enter the center shaft or flower drum, affecting the service life of the parts. At this point, it is necessary to pay attention to some areas on the frame that are prone to mud accumulation, such as the position of the five way joint on the center axle. After washing off the mud and water on the frame with clean water, pour a small amount of detergent on a cloth, and simply rub it with your hands to scrub the frame. In areas where dirt is found on the frame, gently rub back and forth a few times to clean the frame. It is usually not recommended to use strong detergents such as laundry detergent, as many bicycles are made of aluminum material. The alkaline components in laundry detergent will react chemically with aluminum, which can cause some strange colored spots on the aluminum part of the bicycle over time. Therefore, a flexible detergent is definitely a better choice
2. Wheel set, front end and seat pipe
When washing the wheels, you can choose to use a shoe brush dipped in detergent to brush the mud and sand on the outer tire. When washing the car rim, it is best to replace it with a cloth coated with detergent and carefully wipe the brake pads on the rim where they have been applied. A simple scrubbing of the spokes is sufficient. After washing the flower drum, do not use high-pressure water guns or other tools to remove the detergent. Simply rinse with water and wipe with a clean cloth. When washing the seat tube and seat bag, be careful not to let mud and water flow into the seat tube through the gap of the seat tube clamp. Under the seat bag, it is often the place where mud and water fly up the most. Be careful to use a cloth to wipe off the mud. For tires, a slightly harder brush can be used to remove sand, gravel, and dust from the tires for simple maintenance
3. Fingering, forward dialing, and backward dialing
After washing the above accessories, the next step is to wash the fingertips. Inside the fingertips, there are relatively complex parts with a lot of butter for lubrication. It is best to gently wipe with a cloth when cleaning the fingertips, it will be clean. When washing the front and back dials, you can use a water pipe to directly align it with the gap between the front and back dials and rinse it with water, which can remove the mud, water, and sand stuck in the front and back dials. After flushing, you can also use dishwashing detergent to wash off the oil stains on the front and rear dials.
4. Front fork, foot pedal, brake
Cleaning the front fork and foot pedal is very simple, just wash off the mud and water on the foot pedal. It is best not to rinse the front tube with water. When cleaning the inner tube of the front tube, wring out the water on the cloth before wiping it. After using the front and inner pipes for a period of time, there may be some impurities left on them, which can be gently wiped off with a cotton swab. It is best to cultivate the habit of keeping the front fork clean, which is also the most basic maintenance for the front fork. When washing the brake (based on the V-brake), you can use a water pipe to directly flush any sediment left inside the brake, in preparation for subsequent maintenance. For wheels, front and rear transmissions, guide wheels, etc., dust and small dirt can be removed with a brush.
5. Tooth disc, flywheel, and chain
During the entire cleaning process, these three accessories may be the dirtiest parts. Because there is lubricating oil left on the accessories, dust is most likely to adhere. We can first pour detergent on a cloth and dip it in water to clean the dental discs. When washing the dental discs, try to use a cloth to clean each tooth. After washing, rinse with water and you will be pleasantly surprised to find that these three accessories are the dirtiest parts during the entire cleaning process. After washing, rinse with water and you will be pleasantly surprised to find that with the help of detergent and cloth, the dental discs have become shiny and new. The next thing to wash is the flywheel. To wash the flywheel, remove the rear wheel for cleaning. First, release the rear brake so that the brake does not pinch the wheels. First, loosen the screws on both sides of the quick release rear wheel. At this point, gently tap the rear wheel and the wheels will come out. Place the wheel on the ground, carefully wipe it with a cloth on the flywheel, and then install the wheel back on the car. Pay attention to the position of the rear wheel and slowly pull it apart to put it in. This process is very simple, and can be understood after one or two disassembly and assembly.
Finally, the method of chain cleaning: The first method is to use kerosene to wash the chain, wrap a cloth with kerosene around the chain and drag it back and forth. The downside is that it can leave a strange odor, oil stains and stains on oneself. The second method is to use dishwashing detergent. It should be noted that when washing the chain, it is best to use hot water at around 45 degrees Celsius. This temperature is more conducive to its cleaning effect. In addition to using a cloth with detergent to wipe the chain back and forth, it is best to use a thicker brush to slowly brush each section of the chain once. Soon, the black chain will show its original color.
